Nicole Ari Parker has worked in television, film, and on stages. She was best known for her character Teri (the fierce lawyer) Joseph. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name after she married. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent since childhood. In a Maryland high school contest gave her the top actress prize. Contractor who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai before he turned 7, had traveled all over the world and had a taste of various cultures while growing up. She was a boarding student in London from seven to nine, after which her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and became an classical ballerina. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts which was a highly specialized high school that taught more than just dance but also theatre. Contractor began acting at age 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dancing. When she graduated from high school, Contractor was awarded a scholarship by the University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained a Master's degree in Theatre. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having spent a year in university and auditioned during an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. The show she played in 92 performances earned praise from Canadian theater critics. The conservatory at Stratford is home to eight males with four females, along with a couple of others for a weeks of crash courses. Her place in the upcoming production was secured, and she was offered the part as Hermia.
